Doorways
The emergence of pianist/composer/arranger Enrico Pieranunzi has been one of the significant events of the past year in jazz. "Doorways" is the third Pieranunzi album to appear on the CAM label in 2004. The first two, "Fellini Jazz" (with a quintet) and "Morricone 2" (with a trio), used scores by Italy's two greatest film composers as starting points. "Doorways", a duo session with drummer Paul Motian (plus Chris Potter on reeds on three tracks) contains Pieranunzi originals.

Enrico Pieranunzi´s appearances confirmed what has been suggested by his five exceptional albums on the Italian CamJazz label released since 2003, and especially by his new double album on Challenge, Live In Paris: he is one of the most accomplished pianists now playing jazz, regardless of continent.
